The challenge

The substantial growth of the new digital content domain – the New Media – the realm of musical content, video content, graphics and games arriving at cellular phones, web sites and interactive television (iTV) - has given rise to a real technological challenge:
- An enormous amount of content is continuously being produced – songs, video clips, movies, animations, backgrounds etc. Consequently, there is a need for a management capability, Collection and cataloguing of content items.
- Songs and video clips become hits over night and therefore there is a need for instant preparation of these contents for download and access.
- Diverse hakaza equipment – different cellular phones, portable players, web sites, television sets – each requires a different content format technologically suited for the equipment.
- Right holders of content – Music labels and record companies, Television networks and producers – demand accurate and detailed reports on any use of content, for the purpose of royalties calculation and payment for rights, as a necessary condition for content access.

The solution

In order to fulfill the overwhelming requirements of digital-content domains, MBox developed a specialized and unique platform called DGtoolBox. This powerful tool contains a full array of easy-to-use applications that enable fluent management of all content-management procedures, while creating a strong, indexed content catalogue through conversion and export processes and automatic load for all formats required by the cellular environment, the Web and the TV, offering on-line report solutions for content use.

Platform Features

- Management of varied content domains and the ability to adapt any content domain for terminology and use in the relevant content keys. This ability enables cataloguing in music systems, movies, graphics, games, video clips, commercials etc.
- Content-item management and extensive, indexed feeding of additional information "meta-data" according to item type and respective content domain. The system is capable of catalogue-data import from record companies and the largest right holders in the world, such as: Universal, EMI, Sony-BMG, The Orchard.
- Content editing: the system allows audio, video and graphic editing with no need for third party programs. Incorporates all editing tools under the same interface.
- Format conversion: Using a unique conversion engine, the system enables conversion of content sources to all formats required today on the internet and the cellular world.
- Export to distribution systems: the system enables an automatic load of content that has been converted to the required formats by different operators. Automatic load provides an item code for download report from the operator and enables rapid and accurate transfer of files.
- Real-time report interface: the MBox unique platform provides real-time content-use and download data from operators. In Israel, the system is connected to the three cellular operators; Orange, Pelephone and Cellcom, under a combined interface.
- Financial management and report production: the platform provides a financial management interface through gathering of operator financial reports, revenue share analysis and production of detailed financial reports to content right holders.
